Virgin River Actor Stewart McLean Missing, Police Now Suspect Homicide

The entertainment world is grappling with troubling news out of British Columbia. Stewart“Stew”McLean, best known for his appearance in Virgin River, has been missing since mid-May, and the case has taken a dark turn as authorities now believe he may be a victim of homicide.

McLean was reported missing to the Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police on May 18, 2026, three days after he was last seen at his Lions Bay, British Columbia home. What began as a standard missing person’s investigation quickly escalated when the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team stepped in just days later. According to a police press release, investigators uncovered evidence during their initial efforts that led them to believe McLean was a victim of homicide—a significant shift from a search-and-rescue operation to an active criminal investigation.

The actor’s most recent credit came on season 7 of Netflix’s Virgin River, which premiered in March 2026, where he played a barfly in a single episode. But McLean’s career spanned far more than a brief streaming appearance. He built a solid resume across multiple television shows—including roles in Supernatural, Arrow, The 100, Siren, and others—plus a string of short films and the series Cloud Van Tales, which ran from 2019 to 2020. He even earned an ensemble nomination at the Houston Comedy Film Festival in 2017 alongside his castmates from the short film Uniforms.

For now, the investigation remains active, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or released detailed theories about what may have occurred.
