Talk about a grand entrance! Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper didn’t just walk into his high school’s Homecoming game; he flew in—literally—arriving in a helicopter and landing right on the 50-yard line! The spectacle was a sight to behold and a fantastic nod to his roots, as Cooper proudly graduated from Cordova High School in 1982. We can only imagine how exciting that moment was for the players and fans, with jaws dropping and cell phones whipping out to capture the action.
As if that wasn’t enough to inspire school spirit, Cooper stepped out and handed off the game ball! It seems no ordinary moment can compare to having a sheriff land in your backyard, or should I say, on your football field? The crowd must have felt like they were witnessing the plot of an action movie unfold before their eyes. Here’s hoping this becomes a Homecoming tradition for Cordova—who wouldn’t want their school events to feature helicopter landings?
With Cordova High recognized as the High School Playbook Game of the Week, this Homecoming has surely put the school on the map in style. Wouldn’t you agree that every high school should have their own version of a helicopter entrance? What’s your dream grand entrance for a special event? Let’s hear your wild ideas!
