You won’t believe what happened earlier today on Interstate 680 in Solano County. A fallen power line created a dangerous situation as it stretched across all lanes of the road. Seven vehicles found themselves in the midst of chaos, colliding not only with the line but also with one another as drivers tried to avoid the unexpected roadblock. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, which is a small miracle considering how wild things got.
The California Highway Patrol reported that this mess unfolded just before 3 p.m., and traffic was impacted for quite some time. Southbound lanes were closed for about 90 minutes, and while drivers in the area probably weren’t thrilled, they at least got to swap traffic stories and compare notes on who could dodge the obstacle better. One southbound lane finally reopened around 4:30 p.m., ushering in a wave of relief for anyone still stuck.
Interestingly, PG&E was working in the vicinity when the power line fell, leaving many to wonder if this could have been avoided. This situation is a stark reminder of just how quickly things can go wrong on the road. Have you ever encountered a bizarre obstacle while driving? Share your story!
