When reality TV legacies collide with real-world consequences, the fallout lands hard. Lindsie Chrisley, 36, the former Chrisley Knows Best alum and daughter of convicted tax fraudster Todd Chrisley, was arrested in Georgia on Saturday, May 23, on multiple charges including DUI less safe, attempting to elude police, improper passing, reckless driving, and speeding.
The charges came following a traffic stop that landed her in Cherokee County Jail. She posted bond the next day and was released on Sunday, May 24. Her bail was broken down across the charges: $1,355 for DUI less safe, $680 for improper passing, $565 for reckless driving, and $2,006 for speeding. In Georgia, DUI less safe is notably different from standard DUI charges—it means prosecutors can pursue a conviction even when blood alcohol concentration falls below 0.08 percent, making it a broader legal standard.
Chrisley broke her silence through a statement to TMZ, explaining the circumstances behind the incident. She claimed she was speeding past another vehicle on a two-lane road because the car nearly hit an animal, and she was attempting to avoid hitting whatever creature was in the road. Rather than accepting the charges, she’s taking the fight to court, stating she plans to“fight the charge.”
The arrest comes against a backdrop of personal turbulence. Just one month prior, Lindsie filed a protective order against her boyfriend of approximately two years, David Landsman, after he was arrested in April for aggravated assault, strangulation, and battery. Court documents paint a disturbing picture: an altercation allegedly escalated when Landsman became“verbally aggressive”over a photo on her phone, followed by him strangling her“multiple times.”According to the paperwork, Lindsie punched him near his eyebrow to break free, but he allegedly grabbed her throat again, opened the door, and threw her outside. She hit her head on concrete. Law enforcement later examined injuries on her neck and head, noting lacerations from the impact and strangulation marks.
This isn’t the first time the Chrisley family has made headlines for legal trouble. Her father Todd Chrisley and his second wife Julie were convicted in 2022 of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and tax fraud. They were released in May 2025 following a full pardon from President Donald Trump. Now, Lindsie’s own legal entanglements suggest the family’s relationship with the justice system remains complicated.
