Influencer Posts $2 Million Bond in Murder-For-Hire Case

A custody dispute that spiraled into something far darker has landed influencer Gabbie Gonzalez back on the streets—at least for now. After posting a $2 million bond Friday afternoon, Gonzalez walked free from custody, though the conditions of her release are anything but lenient.

The charges stem from an alleged conspiracy to have her ex, Jack Avery, killed. Court documents allege that Gonzalez, along with her father Francisco and a friend named Kai Cordrey, attempted to hire someone to commit murder. According to prosecutors, the scheme involved approaching ex-MMA fighter Dustin Barca, who declined the request. The evidence gets darker: authorities claim Gonzalez even asked for proof of death—specifically requesting a finger to verify that Jack Avery was dead.

What started as a messy custody battle apparently escalated with some troubling family dynamics. Police say Francisco Gonzalez suggested to his daughter that eliminating Jack would simplify the situation. No actual attempt on Jack’s life ever occurred, but the plot was serious enough to warrant conspiracy charges and a two-million-dollar bail.

The judge didn’t simply let her walk. Gonzalez must wear GPS monitoring at all times, maintain distance from her daughter and Jack Avery, and—notably—stay silent about the case on social media. That last restriction is particularly significant for an influencer whose platform is her livelihood. She’s effectively gagged from the one space where she has the most control.

Jack Avery responded to the arrest with a statement thanking law enforcement for protecting his family. For a custody dispute to deteriorate into alleged murder-for-hire is a stark reminder of how personal conflicts can spiral into criminal territory when emotions run unchecked and judgment falters.
