Lights, Camera, Action! Sacramento’s Film Grants Roll into Year Five!

Sacramento is shining a spotlight on its local filmmaking talent with the launch of its fifth year of film grants. The program is a flourishing initiative funded by Measure U, aimed at boosting the local film industry and showcasing Sacramento’s creative voices. With applications now open, filmmakers can vie for a slice of the $75,000 available, which includes six production grants of $10,000 each and two post-production grants of $5,000.

To qualify, productions must film at least 50% of their project in Sacramento and use at least two locations within the city. This doesn’t just include feature films—eligible projects range from short films and documentaries to music videos and episodic television. Since its inception in 2021, the program has already allocated more than $267,500 across 26 grants, empowering diverse storytelling and fostering a vibrant local industry.
