The legal troubles for How I Met Your Mother actor Nick Pasqual just escalated dramatically. Less than a month after his conviction on attempted murder charges, his ex-girlfriend Hollywood makeup artist Allie Shehorn has filed a civil lawsuit alleging sexual battery and rape during their relationship.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Shehorn’s claims center on an April 2024 incident while the two were dating. But the lawsuit paints a much darker picture of their relationship overall—one marked by what she describes as controlling, coercive, threatening, and physically violent conduct that intensified over time. This civil case essentially reopens the door on allegations beyond the criminal case that already landed Pasqual behind bars.

The criminal conviction itself is staggering in its brutality. Shehorn alleges that in May 2024, Pasqual broke into her Sunland home in the early morning hours and stabbed her more than 20 times—targeting her throat, chest, back, abdomen, arms, and wrists. She says his intent was to kill her. She survived only after undergoing emergency surgery and intensive medical treatment, but the physical and emotional scars run deep.

Just weeks ago, Pasqual was convicted of attempted murder, residential burglary, and related charges stemming from that stabbing attack. Prosecutors had noted that he fled toward the U.S.-Mexico border following the assault. Now, through this civil lawsuit, Shehorn is seeking accountability not just for that single catastrophic night, but for the pattern of abuse that preceded it.

The damages Shehorn is pursuing include compensatory and punitive awards for sexual battery, gender violence, assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. She’s also documenting permanent injuries, ongoing medical expenses, and the trauma that will likely follow her for life. This civil case represents another chapter in what appears to be a documented history of escalating violence—and a chance for a fuller accounting of her experience outside the criminal courts.
