When reality TV stars pivot to politics, it’s usually a punchline. But Brandi Glanville isn’t laughing about Spencer Pratt’s Los Angeles mayoral bid—she actually thinks he’s got a real shot.
The“Real Housewives”alum brought up Pratt’s campaign on her“Brandi Glanville Unfiltered”podcast with co-host James Maas, and her take was surprisingly bullish. While she hasn’t quite committed to voting for him, she doesn’t like incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, and she sees a genuine path for the“Hills”star to pull off the upset. To drive the point home, Glanville pointed to a historical precedent: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronald Reagan, Omarosa, and sitting President Donald Trump all made the jump from entertainment to elected office. Why not Spencer Pratt?
It’s worth noting what Glanville didn’t mention. Candidate Nithya Raman got entirely snubbed in the conversation, suggesting Glanville sees a two-horse race. And while Glanville admits she typically doesn’t vote Republican, her hesitation about Karen Bass seems to matter more than party affiliation in this instance. By the end of the podcast segment, she offered a“Go, Spence”nod to show at least a little love for Pratt.
Pratt’s mayoral journey kicked off in January on the first anniversary of the Pacific Palisades fire, and he’s been building momentum ever since—campaign ads, media appearances, and all. There’s already a reality show deal in the works that will follow Pratt, his wife Heidi Montag, and their kids as they adjust to his potential new role. If Glanville’s read is right, that docuseries might document more than just the campaign trail.
The race is far from decided, but one thing’s clear: Spencer Pratt has moved past being a reality TV fixture into actual political territory. And if someone like Brandi Glanville is treating him as a frontrunner, maybe it’s time to take his candidacy seriously—regardless of whether you’re voting for him or not.
