Every year, Delta Airlines makes dreams take flight with its“Dream Flights”program, and this year is no different. In a spectacular event, 100 ambitious Black students climbed aboard a Boeing 757 at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, bound for NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. This initiative, in partnership with the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, aims to introduce these teens to the exciting world of aviation and aerospace careers.
Led by inspiring figures like Delta captain Justin Mutawassim and First Officer Dana Nelson—who made history as Delta’s first Black woman pilot—it’s clear that representation is key. The young passengers not only got to fly among the clouds but also marveled at historic rockets and shuttles at NASA, proving that the sky is truly not the limit for their future ambitions. For 17-year-old Hayden Lynch, the experience was especially transformative, as he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his mentors one day.
With over 4,000 young dreamers transported over the program’s 25-year history, the impact is undeniable. Delta Airlines continues to show that every flight can serve as a stepping stone towards a bright and promising future. If you could inspire a young person, how would you help them reach for the stars?
